The counties of southern Catalonia; The Baix Penedès, the Tarragonès, the Baix Camp, the Conca de Barberà, the Priorat and the Alt Camp form a demarcation with a great and scenic landscape. A territory that has both Mediterranean coastline and some important peaks. This area is known as the Costa Dorada and it’s lands have been influenced by the presence of humans for centuries, Today, we can still enjoy this rich history.

From the Costa Daurada, we access one of the regions best known for its wines and it’s legends. A region with striking landscapes that leave everyone who walks in wonder. Priorat is located in the Catalan Prelitoral Mountain Range, it is a mountainous area and in the world of hiking is known for its rugged relief, thanks to the Serra del Montsant, the Prades mountains that surround it, the Serra de l’Argentera mountain range, Jover and Llaberia.

The Montsant range is located in the northern part of the Priorat, a wine-producing region and well situated, between vineyards and olive groves, it is part of the Prelitoral range and occupies an area of about 135 km2.

Thanks to its orography, marked by the vertical cliffs of limestone, it is an easy mountain to remember and at the same time it is a magnet for hikers who want to discover new places and adventures.

This area is not only impressive due to its mountainous terrain, but also has a wealth of flora and fauna that makes it a truly unique area. It has a number of endemic species, only found in the mountains of southern Catalonia that have a great scientific value and for this reason, proposals have been created for the protection of this natural space.
